T-DEB (Business Exchanges for Development in Turkey) stimulated and supported innovation-focussed collaborations between Turkish and UK companies and organisations that result in economic development and social welfare improvements in Turkey.
T-DEB was part of Innovate UK’s Newton Fund Global Innovation Partnerships Programme. T-DEB was designed and delivered by Tekiu Ltd. to stimulate and support innovation-focused collaborations between businesses and organisations from the UK and Turkey.
Focusing on innovation that is science and technology-driven as well as commercially-focused T-DEB has aimed to foster economic development and social welfare improvements in Turkey, in line with Official Development Assistance (ODA) objectives.
Specifically, T-DEB’s objectives were to:
Strengthen the innovation potential of businesses based in and from Turkey, by stimulating and supporting their collaboration with innovative UK businesses, and with the UK’s innovation ecosystem. In particular, to strengthen the ability of selected businesses in Turkey to deliver innovative solutions to key societal and socio-economic challenges existing within Turkey.
Deliver benefits for UK businesses and organisations as well as the UK innovation ecosystem.
T-DEB ran from January 2018 to March 2020 and brought together 38 UK and Turkish organisations forming 18 R&D partnerships within the sectors of Health and Life Sciences, Environmental Technology, and Smart Cities.
T-DEB began by recognising Turkey's promising innovation ecosystem, its potential to boost productivity and meet the urgent needs of society through greater innovation. We also recognised the potential for Turkey's innovation ecosystem to engage with the best minds, organisations and facilities wherever they are in the world.
We came a long way in our two-year programme, T-DEB. After successfully delivering needs assessment workshops in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, Discovery Trips to the UK, and a partnership acceleration programme, T-DEB culminated in a final business showcase event.
